Susan Thomson | chief Idea Ambassador & Creative Producer
Susan Thomson is an Emmy Award Winning Documentary Film Producer. She produced TOWER, which was shortlisted for an Oscar and nominated for a Peabody Award. TOWER was broadcast on Independent Lens and played theatrically in over twenty-five cities. Susan also produced A SONG FOR YOU: THE AUSTIN CITY LIMITS STORY, which premiered at SXSW in 2016.
Susan started her career at Lehman Brothers in New York. She spent over 12 years as a media consultant in Dallas, Los Angeles, and London. She has worked with Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Really Useful Group," and the BBC.
Susan & Melina co-founded FilmMatters – a film and panel symposium focusing on the common challenges filmmakers, activists, and non-profit organizations often face in the long journey to making a “movie with a mission.”
Under the M3 banner, along with Melina and David, she has created the WhatMatters Symposium: navigating today’s complex issues one topic at a time through a 3-part panel series (What, Why, How). The first production under the WhatMatters Symposium will be StoneMatters: building for the future in the face of severe weather.
Susan leads efforts to create and implement curricula to teach Austin elementary school students about Austin's history as a vibrant music town through We Love Austin Music Week, a program from the Texas Cultural Trust.
Susan lives in Austin, TX, with her husband and two children. She works with M3 Films as a strategic and creative consultant to help clients effectively develop and operationalize ideas. She studied Marketing and Classics at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business.
